Why Does the Ford EcoBlue Crank Pulley Need a Special Puller?
The Ford EcoBlue crankshaft pulley incorporates a bonded rubber section that helps absorb engine vibration. Pulling on the outside edge with a conventional two-jaw or three-jaw puller can place force through this rubber section and may damage the harmonic balancer.
This dedicated EcoBlue pulley tool engages the pulley at the correct points and applies controlled force while the pulley is drawn from the crankshaft.
How Do You Remove a Ford Ranger EcoBlue Crank Pulley?
The engine must first be prepared and locked in accordance with the applicable Ford workshop procedure. The dedicated removal tool is then attached to the correct mounting points on the crankshaft pulley.
Lubricate the puller’s thrust screw and tighten it progressively while checking that the tool remains correctly seated. This draws the crank pulley from the crankshaft without pulling against the bonded outer section.
Do not lever behind the pulley, strike the pulley or attach an ordinary puller to its outside edge. The applicable Ford workshop instructions should always be followed for engine locking, fastener removal, pulley installation and final tightening.

No. This tool draws the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft after the applicable fastener-removal procedure has been completed. Separate engine-locking and fastener tools may be required.
