The Ford Territory, Australia's own SUV

The Territory was designed and engineered in Australia by Ford and built in Campbellfield, Victoria. It launched as the SX in 2004 with the 4.0L six cylinder petrol, in rear wheel drive or all wheel drive, and it quickly became a family favourite.

The SY update arrived in October 2005, with AWD models picking up a six speed automatic, and the 245kW Territory Turbo followed in 2006.

The biggest change came with the SZ in 2011, which brought the 2.7L V6 TDCi diesel. Buyers jumped on it, with diesels making up around 72 per cent of Territory sales within a year, and the SZ took the Territory back to the top of the SUV sales charts. The last Territory, an SZ MKII Titanium, rolled off the line in October 2016.
